Humans cannot see ultraviolet light because our eyes have evolved a natural UV-blocking filter in our lens and cornea. This adaptation serves two purposes:
Protection: UV light can damage the retina, so blocking it helps protect our delicate eye tissues. Visual Clarity: Without UV filtering, our vision would be hazier since UV waves scatter more than visible light.
Animals like bees and birds lack this filtering mechanism because UV vision provides evolutionary advantages, such as seeing nectar patterns in flowers or identifying mates. Their eyes have also evolved additional protection mechanisms to prevent UV damage.
